Ever had one of those moments when life suddenly holds up a giant mirror and forces you to take a hard look at yourself? Last week, I was knee-deep in my usual “get-it-done” mode—rushing through tasks, checking off boxes—when my daughter casually asked me, “Mom, what do you like to do for fun?”
Cue the laughter… and the shock. I genuinely couldn’t remember the last time I had fun that wasn’t tied to work or a scheduled trip. Woof.
That simple question stuck with me, and the very next day, I had a major perspective shift.
In recent weeks, I’ve come to realize just how out of alignment I’ve been with my own advice about slowing down and living intentionally. The hustle and bustle of life had taken over, and I’d forgotten the importance of stepping back and making space for joy.
So, I decided to make a change:
I blocked out breaks in my schedule.
I called a friend for coffee.
I made a commitment to connect with my workout buddy.
I began focusing on living my passion while also creating space for the things that bring me joy and abundance.
Sometimes, the right question can spark a profound transformation—this is the beauty of having a health coach, isn’t it?
Lesson learned: wake-up calls often come from the most unexpected places (like your child asking a simple, yet profound question). If you’ve been so busy checking things off your to-do list that you’ve forgotten what truly lights you up, here’s your reminder: hit pause, reflect, and make room for the things that fill you back up.
With joy,
Kelly
