Trust Me: Stop Snacking

If you don’t want to go on a walk or chew gum when a want to munch on something between meals, I have some sound recommendations to slash the snack attack.

1. Stop Buying It

If you know you have a soft spot for something on the no-no list, then stop buying it! You are only torturing yourself. Either you have to keep seeing it and know you can’t have it, or you eat it and beat yourself up about it later! Do not bring it into the house; it’s as simple as that!

2. Drink Water

I am so guilty of not getting enough water. So much so, that all my bloodwork comes back with levels elevated suggesting that I’m severely dehydrated. I need to start drinking more water! They have apps that can remind you as often as you like. The best part is not only will your hair shine and your skin glow, but you will also curb that appetite, too!

3. Keep Healthy Options Available

Okay, so if you are reading this, you probably have accepted that you are a snacker. We can deny it and then fail when under pressure, or we can figure out how to work it into our lives. If you know 4 o’clock is your weak time, have some cut up vegetables and dip ready to go. We are all busy and are likely to pick the easiest and quickest thing, so make healthy options readily available!

4. Eat Satisfying Meals

If you are constantly looking for a snack, then chances are your meal wasn’t enough for you. A lot of people try to lose weight by not eating enough, and all that does is create binge eating and a grumpy disposition. If your meals are protein-packed and contain healthy fats, you are likely to feel satisfied longer.

5. Track What You Eat

I left this for last because it is by far the most important. So many people think they are eating “healthy” and are frustrated because they aren’t losing weight. But do they know how many calories they are taking in? Do they know how many calories they are burning? No matter what diet you do, you can be successful, so long as you are in a calorie deficit. It’s science.
