Ten years ago, February 5, 2002, my family was truly blessed. On this particular day my dad received a dual transplant for a kidney and pancreas. And yes, I will state that again, it has been 10 years and he is doing well!!

This occurrence among many others has taught me and those close to my family how precious life can be. Regardless of what we are dealt with, we have to keep moving on and looking ahead, continue being a good person and having fun while we are at it.

Today’s post is dedicated to my Dad. He inspires me to be the best person I can be and to always remember that when the going gets tough, to never give up. He is a fighter and at the same time one of the most genuine people I know.

I am proud of you Mike O’Connell. You are the best Dad and Grandpa (since 2011) anyone could ask for.

Cheers to you and good health!
